Pope Francis has asked that the Chair of St. Peter, a relic from the 9th century, be displayed in the Vatican.

This relic is a wooden chair on which, according to tradition, the Popes used to sit. The chair, protected by Bernini's monument, was last exhibited 50 years ago. From now on, after the closing Mass of the Synod on October 27, visitors to St. Peter's Basilica will be able to visit the relic.
