This morning the Holy Father went to Matera to celebrate the closing Mass of the XXVII Italian National Eucharistic Congress. In his homily he stressed the importance of "adoring God and not oneself. To put Him at the center and not the vanity of self.

To remember that the Lord alone is God and that all the rest is a gift of his love. Because if we adore ourselves, we die suffocated by our little self; if we adore the riches of this world, they take hold of us and make us blind; if we adore the gift of appearance and we are immersed in immeasurable things, sooner or later life itself will ask us to tell you about it.

The Pope asks to give cars to the homeless

Today's Gospel narrates the scene of the rich Epulone and the poor Lazzaro, which is particularly suited to speak about the help to the next. For this reason, at the time of the Angelus prayer, the Pope recalled in a particular way some of the conflicts of our days.

Myanmar is undoubtedly one of the most peripheral places that Pope Francis has ever visited; therefore, it is not surprising that he has remembered that "For more than two years this noble country has been afflicted by serious armed clashes and violence, which have caused many victims and many deaths. This week I felt the cry of pain for the death of the children of a bombed school. May the cry of these little ones not be forgotten! Queste tragedie non devono accadere!"

Neppure poteva mancare l'Ucraina, già ricordata in più di 80 occasioni dal Papa quest'anno. "May Mary, Queen of Peace, comfort the Ukrainian people and obtain from the captains of the nations the strength of will to immediately find effective initiatives that will lead to the end of the war.". The Vatican has recently launched a peace proposal to resolve the conflict.

A Matera a memory for migrants

The violence that has been reported in some African countries against priests and priests' priests frequently makes the news in the Western media.
On this occasion, the Pope has responded to the appeal of the Cameroonian refugees for the release of eight people kidnapped in the diocese of Mamfe, including five priests and a mother. Finally, this Sunday the Church celebrates the World Day of Migrants and Refugees. This year's theme is entitled "The World Day of Migrants and Refugees".Building the future with migrants and refugees". The Holy Father has urged to make it easier for everyone to find their own place and to be respected: "where migrants, refugees, refugees and victims of human trafficking can live in peace and dignity. Because the Kingdom of God is also realized with them, without exclusion.". He also showed how, thanks to these people, communities can grow at various levels: social, economic, cultural and spiritual. To share one's own tradition can enrich the People of God.
